EID Reader File Import

Overview

This screen provides the ability to import session files from compatible EID Readers and add common data to all animals on file. It maintains a history of previous imports for reference.

Import Session

The first time the EID Reader File Import button is selected from the Home screen after installation, it will present the following screen.

Import Session

To import a session file:

1. Select the IMPORT SESSION button

2. This will open a wizard to

  • Select EID Reader

    • Presents a list of previously paired EID Readers (light gray text)

    • Starts discovery of active devices (presents a dialog)

    • When a device is discovered, its text will change to black and the selection button for the device will be active

    • Select the EID Reader to import sessions from and NEXT which will present a "Connecting" dialog while the tablet attempts to connect

  • Select Session To Import

    • If the selected EID Reader connects, it will present a "Loading Sessions" dialog which indicates that it is retrieving a list of session files from the device

    • When completed, it will present session IDs, date/time and # of records similar to what is displayed below

      • Note: If the EID Reader provides the ability for a user to enter a session name and this is used, this name will be displayed. If not, the session number associated with the session will be displayed​

    • Select a session file and NEXT

Note: There is a known issue with some Tru-Test XRS Readers which causes the EID Reader to provide invalid session file dates (e.g. 3 digit months or years, etc.) to StockManager. This issue has been raised to Tru-Test. To address this issue when it occurs, StockManager will change any invalid session dates to the current date and display this in the session listing.

  • Create Import Name

    • ​Once the tags have been loaded for the selected session, it will present a field to enter a unique name for the import​
      • If the selected session has a file name defined (i.e. something other than Session ###), this will be pre-populated and the warning message below will be displayed. Select OK to accept or edit this import name. 
      • The import name will be listed on all animal records next to the data that was added during the import

    • Enter an Import Name (or accept the pre-populated name) and select NEXT - this will check for duplicates and notify you if it is a duplicate so you can edit

  • Select Animal Type

    • Select Cattle, Deer or Sheep​

    • This will be the default Animal Type set for any animals on the import file that are new to the system

  • Select Data

    • Presents a list of available data elements that can be added to each ​EID record imported based on the Animal Type selected

    • Select the data element that you would like to add and NEXT​

    • This will present you data entry options based on the data element selected - e.g. text entry for Stud Farm or selection for scan result

    • Once you have entered or selected the data element value, select NEXT

  • Review

    • This will present a summary of all entries and COMPLETE and ADD DATA ELEMENT

    • If you select ADD DATA ELEMENT, it will take you through the same steps as outlined above to add another data element and value

    • If you select COMPLETE the system will:

      • Show a progress indicator until the import completes successfully or fails

      • If it fails, it will present a dialog with instructions

      • If it is successful, it will remove the wizard, add the data elements and values specified to the individual records of all animals in the session file and add a row below the headers in the table with the new import at the top (list is default sorted by Date/Time)

Import History

Successful imports will be presented in the Import History with the following headers:

  • Man./Model - the Manufacturer Name and Model number of device the session file was imported from

  • Device ID  - the device identifier that is captured at pairing

  • Animal Type - the Animal Type selected 

  • Import Name - the name that assigned to the Import

  • Record # - the number of records processed in the import

    • Note: Selecting the number hyperlink shown will open the Filtered Animal List screen with the Animal Type and Import Event pre-selected. Selecting the View Animal List from this screen allows you to see the details on the individual animals on the EID Reader File Import. ​

  • Date/Time - the date/time that the job completed
