Glossary of Terms

kg DM/ha - kilograms of dry matter per hectare

ME Level - the average amount of metabolizable energy of a feed or forage

Meat Withholding Period - the minimum period of time that must elapse between the last administration of a health treatment and slaughter of an animal 

MJ or MJME - Megajoules of metabolizable energy - a standard unit used to describe feed or forage or animal feed requirements

Prime - animals that meet requirements set by abattoir for slaughter 

Produce Withholding Period - the minimum period of time that must elapse between the last administration of a health treatment and the harvesting on an animal byproduct (e.g. wool or velvet) 

Store - animals that meet requirements set by finishers 

Yield % - animal carcass weight / live weight
