Paddock Inventory

Adding and updating Paddock details both before and after assigning animals to Paddocks enables:

  • Accurate feed planning for animal groups based on up to date information

  • Accurate production output captured for each paddock to be able to forecast future production and relative costs $/MJME

The Paddock Inventory screen displayed below shows a few examples of Paddocks that have been previously added. Just select the ADD PADDOCK button to open a wizard which will walk you through adding:

  1. Paddock Name

  2. Productive Area

  3. Forage Type, Forage and ME level (references provided)

  4. kg DM/ha - a variety of tools are provided to enter direct plate meter measurements, height conversions. Limits are provided based on guidance from Beef and Lam NZ and References are also provided for forages where these don't apply.

  5. Utilization level

After these parameters are entered, the system will update the details and calculations for the Paddock feed levels and maintain a history of entries that can easily be viewed by selecting the expand (down) arrow at the end of the row.

To update the Paddock details, simply select the overflow buttons (3 dots) at the end of the row and select Update Paddock from the menu. This will present the same wizard as described above but will pre-populate all of the previous data except for kg DM/ha.

Anytime that a Paddock is added or updated, the growth rate reverts to zero. To update for all Paddocks, select the GROWTH RATE button at the top of the screen and add a daily growth rate. To modify this at a Paddock level, select the active link for the Paddock under the Growth Rate column.
